General (Chemistry)
General chemistry covers the very basics of chemistry including acids and bases, measurement, atomic structure, the periodic table, the basics of chemical bonding, equations, and so much more.
An excellent series that describes the history of Chemistry.
I think this is a great way to get interessted in science and specifically chemistry. Aired January 21, 2010 on BBC Four.
A complete ebook on chemical bonding and more.
I don't even know where to start with this site. It is well designed, well written, easy on the eyes and full of information and pictures. It makes chemistry look like childs play without making you feel like a child. An excellent resource in my opinion. "SOMETIMES IT SEEMS to me that a bond...
All about electrochemistry
I really like chem1's ebooks. They have a thorough description of electrochemistry, going through the galvanic cell, electrodes, the nernst equation and much more. They also have some excellent pictures as wel as some historical experiments. I would highly recommend you read through this...
Webelements
The most detailed periodic table on the web.
Funny intro to chemical reactions
This site uses some funny humor to help you understand chemical reactions in their most basic form. Probably useful to someone who has never taken a chemistry class before.
Treatment of Hydrofluoric acid exposure
This might be good to know since HF is so corrosive. This is a well written handbook for exposure to hydrofluoric acid. Remember, even a small amount on the skin can cause large amounts of tissue damage and since HF interferes with neurons you will not even feel the burns initially.
Notes on the math of electrochemistry
This handout gives just the bare necessities of electrochemistry including how to balance redox reactions.
States of matter
This is a great overview of solids, liquids and gases. It is condensed and will give you most what you need to know on one page. There is also a neat table with the differences between solids, gases and liquids.
Aldehyde melting points
PDF with the melting points for common aldehydes.
An introduction to Acids and Bases
This is a very elementary introduction to Acids and Bases. It starts of as basic as: Acids taste sour, are corrosive to metals, change litmus (a dye extracted from lichens) red, and become less acidic when mixed with bases. Bases feel slippery, change litmus blue, and become...
